Last Mile

Last Mile, the first book in the Beeze Series, is set in 2065, a world changed by the devastating pandemic in 2019. Autonomous driving cars are commonplace, and predictive algorithms determine outcomes of people’s lives. The government forms a fourth branch of the government to protect society from future pandemics by instituting lockdowns. Dr. Rosita McKenna and her daughter Maggie strive to escape the constrictions in order to procure medicine and food. All hope appears lost until Dr. Manny Rio intervenes and offers aid.

Tales at the Top

Tales at the Top is an origin story of the rise of Brian Lomax, Dr. Rosita McKenna’s grandfather, who was instrumental in developing semiconductor chips from 1984 to 2019, eventually leading to artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and the algorithms of the Contros in the future. This story follows the formation of the fourth branch of government intended to protect the citizens from themselves, but ends up going too far in restricting society.

Critical Paths

Critical Paths is the continuing story of the development of the fourth branch of the government. Brian Lomax’s son, Dexter, meets Christi McKenna, and together they fight off the growing use of AI to control the outcomes of people’s lives. Dexter develops the first Beeze vehicle and fights off those trying to steal the secrets in this 2035 year of the Beeze series.

Rise of the Contros

Rise of the Contros takes place in the year 2050 of the Beeze Series and documents the way the fourth branch of the government turns into CATACS, with their police force, the “Contros.” Dexter, Christi, and their daughters, feel their life’s work slip away to the hands of the Contros when all AI chip manufacturing and all transportation converts to management by the government. Cities and states become divided into “Pods,” that close when the Contros demand, restricting all citizens within the gates.

Roots of Mars

Beginning with the aftermath of Last Mile, Roots of Mars follows Maggie McKenna and her parents as they create a vertical farm that is self-sufficient and separate from the Contros. With support from Amy and Alex Rio and the help of Theo Wiggins, a brilliant scientist, they set off on an ambitious mission to test the farm for one year before potentially launching it into space. This could eventually lead to a settlement on an another planet.
